About

Europe At Midnight is dedicated to ‘Understanding Europe, Rediscovering Christ.’ I publish articles and host events focused on (a) understanding what is happening in Europe and (b) exploring what a future of Christianity might look like.

Welcome to Europe At Midnight, an exploration of emerging religious trends and the future of Christianity in post-secular Europe.

Editorial perspective

Broadly Christian, including both the West and the East. I am interested in dialogue and learning from others, not in arguing about who is wrong. There will be no cheap culture war point scoring here. I am not primarily looking at specific groups, churches, or branches of Christianity, but at broader trends or unusual perspectives. While other themes could be included, I have chosen these themes (listed below) because they are not usually adequately addressed elsewhere. However, they are of direct relevance to the future of European Christianity.

Themes

On this website you will find articles about (1) trends in European Christianity, (2) more general religious trends, and (3) significant developments in in the broader European context.

Trends in European Christianity: 1 Sacramental & Liturgical Revival, 2 Intercultural Churches, 3 Intentional Communities

General religious trends: 4 Paganism, both retro & neo, 5 De-Secularisation, 6 Freedom of Religion and Belief

European context: 7 Nature v.s. Culture, 8 Digitech & post-capitalism / post-liberalism, 9 Alternative Education & Formation, 10 Global Diaspora, Local Identity
